Celebrating Art, Technology, and Business
New Views & Dedication To Their Happy Fellowship
I have always said that when a person looks at art,
it is the actual recorded history of the artist's life. ~ William Belveal
(2003)
Many people ask me who and/or what I recommend for all kinds of services and products.
I don't give recommendations lightly. I have either used these resources myself,
or had direct experience from a trusted colleague.
Who am I, and why should my recommendation mean anything to you, the visiting creative?
The Net is huge, and you have run into many people and places that give you advice.
Some of it good, much of it... NOT good. Sometimes you run into a site that gives you an
immediate sense of ''being home.'' A place where, for whatever the reasons, provides you
with a feeling of trust. It is my hope that here, you will find that aura.
Please start with my
Artist's Statement, or my own Digital
Portfolio, for a glimpse into my history. Many will throw a recommendation
site onto the Net... and so what? I think you will soon see, if you dive into my
academic and professional history, that ALL of this is driven by a desire to reach
certain groups. Certain GLOBAL groups. And my core interest is in the global group
of creative people of all ages, all cultures. In academic arenas (the center of my
doctoral studies) ... it is to reach young people with a message that they, too, can
choose SCIENCE, including technology, math, or computing... as a means of making their
living. This, in spite of the media, cultural, or familial message that they've
received all of their lives.
The other page on this site that will help you to get to know me, is my writing,
''The
Vision.''. This page shows what I see for the artist, the creative... in today's
world of Internet this, and electronic that.
- How we can use these things to our
benefit and not get run aground in the mass of ''overwhelmed-ness'' and this
critical level of TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING.
- How to fit creativity into a
plan for time management, as well as information management.
- How to do an effective RESEARCH.
- How Creatives network, and why it's a bit different than
for other segments of the business world.
- How to divide personal feelings from
the reality of marketing your works...
you are NOT marketing your soul. Simply your works.
This came as a real surprise to me, that these two things
can and must be separated.
And a primary portion
of The Vision resides in this very large Global Community of ours. Things have
changed drastically in the past decade, and the ONLY sure thing on the horizon is
that it will change again. And again. And your biggest challenge lies is accepting
this lightning delivery of new modes, and taking on that challenge of keeping up
with the ''E-Jones'es'' !! And remember... if it gets to be too much, come back
here, as I most likely am addressing that very thing!
My unique stance on this is that I truly believe,
and KNOW from my personal experience
of the past eight years of study, that ART and SCIENCE are wonderful bedfellows. They
indeed may live comfortably in that ''right-brain/left-brain'' way. I am living proof
of this. And I have a heart for youth that come from difficult backgrounds... the at-risk
kid, the underserved kid... those that have been labeled by society.
The inner-city, the ghetto, the Barrio. Whatever. We are all in this together...
and I have discovered pathways OUT of that mindset.
My Web sites are geared toward creative pursuit, and where that fits in
today's society. I, myself, am literally a ''welfare-to-work'' success story. Not
that I am crowing about it...
the years have been hard, but one primary lesson has been that EGO has no place in this.
When I tell you that I've found a product that will ease your way, and this is how it
fits into the plan, and this is what it will cost... and perhaps, if I have the info
available, then this is how you can work around it, perhaps with a free tool... then,
that is exactly what all these pages are about.
I very much welcome your feedback. Questions? Creative or eCommerce or Business
question or your suggestions all are highly appreciated, and you WILL receive
a very timely answer! Please email me at:
